also known popularly as Ascorbic Acid. Vitamin C is valuable in many
ways, including production of hemoglobin and red blood cells.
Vitamin C helps keep teeth and gums in good shape and is useful in
healing bone breaks and other wounds. It is a popular notion, but
likely a myth, that Vitamin C can cure the common cold. Certainly a
Vitamin C deficiency does a person no good at all. Vitamin C is a
popular treatment medically for urinary tract infections, and is
known as a specific for scruvy.
Vitamin C is
abundantly available in broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage,
grapefruit, peppers, potatoes, strawberries, tangerines and
tomatoes. The most frequent choice for natural ingestion of Vitamin
C is through eating oranges. It is commonly believed that excess
Vitamin C will be excreted through the urine.
