Riboflavin Description
Riboflavin - Riboflavin is
another water soluble vitamin that is found in dairy products, egg
yolks, fish, legumes, meat, poultry, whole grains, yogurt, as well
as several green leafy vegetables. Riboflavin is also known as
Vitamin B2, and it can be produced synthetically. Riboflavin, like
thiamine, is useful in the enhancement of the circulatory system
especially with respect to blood formation, production of
antibodies, and general growth. Those who exercise a great deal are
often found to be deficient in Riboflavin and in need of
supplementation. Riboflavin also has been shown to assist in
digestion. A Riboflavin deficiency can cause skin cracks and sores
near the lips, as well as eye disorders, dermatitis, loss of hair,
slow growth, and sensitivity to light.
