Lecithin Description
Lecithin - Lecithin
is a lipid that is used in each and every cell in the human body.
For the most part, Lecithin is what cell membranes are actually made
of. Lecithin is active in the regulation of nutrients into and out
of the cell, as well as in the transfer of wastes. Lecithin is noted
to be effective as a preventative to arteriosclerosis and other
heart related maladies. In addition, this compound is useful in the
control of excess cholesterol because it enables the body to process
fats out of the system. Many of the major muscles and organs, such
as the brain, are surrounded by a Lecithin sheath.
Lecithin is
found in many processed food. A good natural source is soybeans,
brewer's yeast, grains, fish and wheat germ. Some studies have shown
that Lecithin is helpful for those persons suffering from AIDS,
herpes, immune disorders, and chronic fatigue. This compound is also
known as Soy Lecithin.
