Inositol

Inositol Description

Inositol - Inositol is a water-soluble vitamin of the B complex variety. It is also known as Myo-Inositol. The human body can manufacture its own supply of this compound but it can be depleted. The main component is lecithin and is engaged in moving needed fats from the liver to the individual cells where it can be used. Inositol comes from dried beans, chickpeas, lentils, cantaloupe, liver, pork, nuts, rice, whole grain and wheat germ. Inositol can enhance the disposition and has been reported to have a calming effect. It is useful in preventing arterial hardening and the metabolism of cholesterol. Mainly, Inositol helps move fats from the liver. Caffeine in large quantities has been shown to deplete the body's supply of Inositol and many people supplement.
