Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)

Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) Description

Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) - Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) is a byproduct of industrial papermaking that has been found to act as an effective anti-inflammatory and pain reliever by simply rubbing the compound onto the skin near the affected area. This is even though DMSO (as it is usually known) is really an industrial solvent. The compound is clear and oily in texture, like any other mineral oil. There is evidence that DMSO will relieve deep pain, such as from an ankle sprain and even bone fractures. Much about DMSO has remained controversial since it was first introduced into the supplement field. Nonetheless, DMSO is a treatment for tendonitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and stomach ulcers. Some take it to relieve symptoms of sciatica, general back problems, burns, acne, herpes and cataracts.

DMSO comes from trees. It is absorbed through the skin and will enter the bloodstream through the capillary system near the epidermal surface. It is then naturally conducted deeper into the damaged tissues. Because of its effects, DMSO should only be taken by those who are in pain or some malady to be addressed. Healthy folk really have no need.
