Coq10 - Coq10, also called Coenzyme Q10, is a natural substance that resembles in many ways plain Vitamin E. Coq10 helps cells produce energy and acts as an antioxidant. Coq10 is produced naturally by the body. Similar to Vitamin E, Coq10 is found in living cells but the supply therein decreases markedly as age increases. Research has shown that supplementation with Coq10 may reduce high blood pressure and the incidence of heart disease, as well as enhance the immune system. A popular tendency for use of this supplement is for weight loss assistance but the efficacy of that is not proven as of this date. Coq10 is useful in the treatment of some gum diseases and reports are that it will reduce or ease angina symptoms. Coq10 is most often available in capsule form. In cancer chemotherapy patients, this supplement has been shown to actually stimulate the immune system and ward off heart problems caused by the chemotherapy drugs.
